Thomas Tuchel Well opened his tenure in West London. Since joining Chelsea, the coach has amassed 10 of 12 possible points in the league, and will now try to continue his and his team’s positive momentum in the Cup as well. Tomorrow (Thursday) the Blues will meet Barensley from the Championship as part of the final 16 stage of the factory, a hurdle she is expected to pass by the German.

“As a little kid in Germany with no internet or sports channels, knowing the word ‘Wembley’ without question at all,” Tuchel said excitedly, “it will be huge for us to win the trophy. It’s one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world.” The German coach has shed light on Thiago Silva’s condition. The Brazilian stopper, who was injured in the league game against Tottenham last Thursday, was absent from the meeting against Sheffield on Sunday and the coach said that he will not be involved in the cup either.

“He’s out. He’s not feeling better. He’s well cared for and I know him from the last few years (coached him at PSG), we can be sure he’s taking advantage of every minute to speed up his recovery process.”

Whoever will be available to the coach is Khakim Zeich. The talented Moroccan midfielder who arrived last summer from Ajax for 40 million euros is struggling to fit into the blues this season, when in 18 appearances in all competitions he scored a total of two goals and cooked four. “I hope we see him at his peak tomorrow. Tomorrow we believe he will see the same quality and desire he shows in training,” Tuchel said.

Now, Tuchel and his trainees will try to qualify for the quarter-finals of the English Cup. As you may recall, the Blues reached the final last season, where they lost 2-1 to Arsenal at Wembley.
