The impeachment trial of former US President Donald Trump will begin in the Senate on Feb. 8. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced the schedule for his impeachment process tonight (Saturday).
Although Trump has already ended his term and Biden has begun serving as president, the impeachment process continues due to the desire of Democratic Party members and other members of the Republican Party to prevent him from running for another presidency in four years. In addition, it was reported that in parallel with the removal process, the Senate is working to implement the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which will prevent a person from running for the presidency due to his part in harming the nation.

Schumer explained the delay in the dismissal process by saying that the Senate should best prepare for it, and also deal with the new appointments of President Joe Biden as well as the contingency plan he presented for the fight against the corona virus, which cost two trillion dollars. “We all want to put this dark chapter behind us and move forward to recovery and unity,” Schumer said. “But these will be achieved only through true devotion and the administration of justice.”
As you may recall, Trump was ousted from the House of Representatives about a week before the end of his term, due to his involvement in inciting thousands of burglars to Capitol Hill in Washington on January 6. Crowds stormed the congressional building during President Joe Biden’s official election process.
