Trump the new social network: vice president ‘in talks with several apps’ to create his own social media platform

  • Trump and his digital advisor are in talks with several app vendors about forming a partnership to create Trump’s own social network
  • Axios said a new FreeSpace app is among those under consideration
  • Following the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, Trump was banned from Twitter, Facebook and several other social media sites.

Donald Trump is in talks with app vendors as he sets out to partner with an existing platform to create his own social media network.

Trump and digital advisor Dan Scavino are considering a number of lesser-known platforms, including FreeSpace, Axios said, citing ‘sources familiar with the private conversations’.

A source told the news website: ‘It could be in several companies, with more meetings this week. ‘

Then-President Trump was banned from Twitter on Jan. 8 – two days after the Capitol unrest – in a move that halted communications between Trump and his nearly 90 million followers on stage.

Facebook followed suit the next day, meaning Trump lost contact with 33million accounts. Trump was then blocked by several other social media sites.

Some had expected Trump to reappear on parler – a former far-south microblogging site in talks with Trump advisers – but those efforts fell through.

In the past few weeks, people close to Trump have often said that the former president intends to create a new media company to spread his message.

On Sunday, Jason Miller, a senior Trump adviser, told Fox News: ‘I think we’ll see President Trump return to social media in about two to three months here, with his own platform. ‘

FreeSpace could be considered a weird option as the app only has 20,000 downloads and is branded around the power of capability. ‘

The app claims that it is itself backed by science to reinforce good practices and make the world a better place. ‘

It encourages users to share daily routines and activities that encourage others to duplicate them by posting on an ‘Activity Wall’ and chatting in ‘rooms’.

The app is relatively new, having just launched February 1 in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Axios said FreeSpace is affiliated with Skylab Apps, a platform for coaches and trains.

Details of any deal between Trump and FreeSpace are unclear, axios have been reported, and neither the app nor Trump has commented on the report.

Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner rejected him from joining parler or Gab – which also has a far-south user base – after he blocked mainstream social media networks.

Twitter explained its decision to permanently cancel Trump’s account in a January 8th statement.

‘After a recent close-up review of Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them – especially how they are received and explained on and off Twitter – we’ve posted the account permanently because of the risk of inciting further violence, ‘he read.

Twitter offices in February said the ban would stand.

‘When you are taken off stage, you will be taken off stage,’ CFO Ned Segal Twitter told CNBC on 10 February.

‘He was removed while he was president and it would make no difference to anyone who is a public official once they have been removed from service. ‘

Since being fired from his favorite social media site for use and criticism, Trump has released statements from both his America First political action committee and the 45th President’s Office.

These statements, which are longer in format but are reminiscent of Trump’s Twitter activity, have been described as being more primary in tone than his tweets.
