“Your spy,” a woman screamed at her grandfather in one video, as he walked through one of the destinations at a Washington, DC area airport. “Lindsey Graham, you are a spy on the country.”
In the video, it appeared that the grandfather at one point responded to someone in the crowd but it is not clear what he said.
A second video posted on YouTube showed that security finally took it to the stairs.
“You saw how we surrounded him,” one man says in that video after the conflict ended. “If we were really violent, we could have ended up there and then. But we didn’t, we asked him questions.”
In another video, obtained by a Politico reporter, a woman in a QAnon shirt is heard saying, “One day they won’t be able to walk down the street; it is today.”
Asked for a comment on the video, Kevin Bishop, the senator’s communications director, told CNN, “We will not discuss security issues related to General Graham.”
A spokesman from Reagan National Airport told CNN there were no charges associated with the incident.
The backlash directed to Graham was sparked after the Republican senator’s criticism of Trump after pro-Trump violence attacked the Capitol on Wednesday. The riot came when a joint session of Congress was called to count election college votes and to test the influence of President Joe Biden – whom Trump has repeatedly refuted by making false claims that stole the election from him.
