
President Joe Biden lands at Andrews Joint Base in Maryland before being set up tomorrow in the nation’s capital.
Biden was flown today on a private plane, but another change to the protocol the night before its inception.
A person familiar with the matter confirmed to CNN that Biden was not taking a U.S. government plane to the Andrews Joint Base for the first stop of his inauguration ceremonies.
A second source familiar with the matter said the government did not give a plane to the claims, but did not have details.
A White House official, meanwhile, said Biden’s team did not request a government plane to take Biden to DC. The official said the administration explained to Biden’s team what the options were. But supporters explained to Biden that they would prefer to fly on private planes, the official said.
Where Biden goes further: Biden will take part in a memorial this afternoon honoring more than 400,000 Americans who have died from Covid-19, with 400 lights illuminating the Lincoln memorial meditation pool.
Hundreds of cities, towns and communities across the country are set to take part in the solemn ceremony with their own lighting ceremonies at buildings from the Empire State Building in New York City to the Space Needle there. in Seattle, Washington.
Biden will be joined by his wife Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff. Cardinal Wilton Gregory, archbishop of Washington, will deliver the invitation and evangelical singer Yolanda Adams will sing “Hallelujah.”
Biden had hoped to enter Washington, DC, with a ridiculous turn by riding a train from his home in Delaware, but that was seen as too much of a security threat at a time when the country threatening internal threats.
