US President Donald Trump announced today (Friday) the recognition of the election loss and promised to pass the baton smoothly, but a few hours later announced his intention not to attend Joe Biden’s inauguration in about two weeks.
“To anyone who asked, I am not going to attend the inauguration on January 20,” he wrote on Twitter.
To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.

Meanwhile, and in response to Trump’s tweets in recent days leading up to the major riots in Washington, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Philoso announced that she had spoken to the Joint Chiefs of Staff about taking precautions against him to ensure Trump could not initiate hostilities. Or order a nuclear attack in the two weeks he has left in office: “The president’s precarious situation could not be more dangerous, and we must do everything we can to protect the American people from its unbalanced attack on our country and our democracy.”
Later, in an interview with CNN, she said she would prefer US President Donald Trump to resign now or the 25th Amendment to the Constitution be enacted, under which the vice president and cabinet ministers declare the president unfit to fill the post. However, she noted that this time there is widespread support among Democrats for the ouster from the previous time they tried to run this move on Trump.
As you may recall, on the day of the riots and the assault on the Capitol, Trump supporters broke into Pelosi’s office and vandalized the sign with what was on her office door. Pelosi’s advisers said the rioters smashed a large mirror in her office and left a note on her desk with the caption: “We will not give up.”
