Two marches taken off from signing a four-year, $ 66 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders that included $ 36.75 million in total pledges, New England Patriot Trent Brown again.
Las Vegas has agreed to trade the offensive high offensive back to New England in exchange for a 2022 draft pick, as reported early Tuesday morning by Ian Rapoport of NFL Media and Yates field of ESPN.
The move comes with restructuring one-year contract worth up to $ 11 million that will allow Brown to return to a free agency after the 2021 season, sources told Rapoport and Yates. The 27-year-old was previously set for cap numbers of $ 14 million and $ 15.25 million over the remainder of his deal.
The Raiders will receive their fifth final in the near future and will send their seventh round to the Patriots alongside Brown, the Jim McBride of Boston Globe detailed.
Conditions will be finalized when the new league year begins at 4pm ET on March 17th.
Brown started 16 games together over his pair of regular seasons in the AFC West. Every start came on the right side of the line. Pro Bowl honors met Brown in 2019 before the 6-foot-8, 380-pound bookend hit a pectoral injury. He was limited to a handful of shows this past campaign due to shoes on the Covid-19 list and after pregame IV needed hospitalization.
His time with the Raiders included one sack that allowed him to go with two quarterback goals and 15 rushing, per Pro Football Focus.
“Trent is all about being healthy, in shape and ready to go, he’s as dominant as any machine in football,” Raiders general manager Mike Mayock told reporters at a video conference last week. “And he proved that early in the 2019 season. Since then, he’s been a sort of roller-coaster. So really what he has to do, I think more than anything, is to get himself in the best shape of his life and come out ready to prove that he is is a key player in the National Football League. And in fact, that is what it will bring. If Trent gets in shape and is enthusiastic, there is no better talent. ”
The Patriots had gotten Brown first from the San Francisco 49ers in a swap of No. 95 overall and No. 143 in total during the 2018 NFL draft. The move surfaced in the April hours following the selection of Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn at No. 23.

After Wynn suffered nine Achilles blows into his rookie preseason, the Georgia Military College and University of Florida forward went on to start every game from the opener through Super Bowl LIII for New England at the the left jack.
“He’s a great player with his skill set,” Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said of Brown in November 2018. “His size is very rare. His athleticism is good, but when you add it to his size, that’s rare, too. You don’t see such great boys playing over there. He is very capable. ”
Brown, who entered the league in the seventh round back in 2015, played a part in the Patriots earning four league-level compensation points last spring. He will now return to the spring depth chart that currently includes the likes of Wynn, former selector Marcus Cannon as well as sophomores Mike Onwenu and Justin Herron.
In-house linemen Joe Thuney and David Andrews are slated to be unstoppable free agents for a group in New England that will be projecting north of $ 60 million in cap space into 2021 .
