Trent Alexander-Arnold bounces back at the comments of ‘Jose Mourinho’s best lost team’ on Instagram after Liverpool beat Tottenham … and Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones and Rhys Williams all coming in too!
- Liverpool went out of Tottenham 2-1 with a last-minute winner by Roberto Firmino
- Jose Mourinho was convinced he lost ‘the best team’ when it happened Wednesday
- Trent Alexander-Arnold responded to those comments on his Instagram account
- And it is clear that Mourinho did not please his friends at Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold has fired back at Jose Mourinho’s complaints that he is ‘the best losing team’ after last year’s Liverpool 2-1 win over Tottenham.
It is clear that the Reds players did not heed Mourinho ‘s comments after the match – which he made directly to Jurgen Klopp on the line of scrimmage – about Tottenham playing out Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Alexander-Arnold took to Instagram shortly afterwards, posting photos on his page and his story with the caption ‘best team won’.

Curtis Jones, Rhys Williams and Jordan Henderson responded to the Alexander-Arnold role
And Alexander-Arnold’s response was popular with his teammates from Liverpool, as they came in to respond to his post.
Captain Jordan Henderson responded with the top-10 emoji, Curtis Jones responded with just the emoji ‘speak’ while Rhys Williams added ‘higher for those at the back bro’.
Liverpool looked set to prepare for a draw against Mourinho’s side on Wednesday at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah’s spoiled strike had led them in the first half before Son Heung-min balanced with a relentless finish.
Tottenham then missed three chances with a gilt, with Steven Bergwijn twice shaking his lines in addition to Harry Kane.
Roberto Firmino then shook the three points for Liverpool with a powerful goal in the 90th minute at Anfield, leaving Mourinho lacking.
He appeared as a terse exchange with Klopp on the last whistle and raised the top of what was said in his post – match interview with Amazon Prime.
Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp had a word exchange on the last whistle to be blown
Mourinho said he called Klopp ‘the best lost team’ after what happened at Anfield
‘I said the team lost best and didn’t agree but that’s his opinion,’ Mourinho said. ‘I think even a lottery would have left us not with the best taste because we had them there to win.
‘It wasn’t just about the big opportunities but the times of the big opportunities and there was the moment when they were in trouble in the worst moment and we had it there to kill it but we lost e.
‘Usually at games at this level you pay and I thought we would pay just taking a point.
‘In the end we didn’t even take a point, so it’s a disappointment for us. But looking at the performance I am happy with the team, with the suggestion to go to a game to win.
‘I thought in such a tough game against such a good team that the boys were really good and we got a penalty.’

Roberto Firmino (No. 9) made Spurs pay in the dying minutes as they headed for the winner
Klopp’s evaluation of the game does not appear to have differed from Mourinho’s assessment.
‘It was a difficult game, a very difficult game in a difficult time but we deserved three points,’ Klopp said.
‘You lose one member against this monster (and you will be punished) so you need to be targeted. We need to play around with them and keep them busy. The boys did that well. Bobby’s head was good. ‘
