Trade Thunder Oklahoma City Hamidou Diallo To Detroit Pistons For Svi Mykhailiuk

After a trade-off offseason, the Oklahoma City Thunder have made their debut of the 2020-21 regular season. As first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Hamidou Diallo traded to the Detroit Pistons for Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk ‘s promotion and 2027 second – round pick through Houston.

For the Thunder, this move was made ahead of Diallo’s limited future free agency. With the best year of his career, he should be earning the first big payday of his career. Instead of matching offer pages from others around the league and risking paying Diallo to keep him on the roster in the long run, Oklahoma City get a second-round pick and a young hunting.

Mykhailiuk was first selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2018 NBA draft, at No. 47 overall. This was just two kicks after Diallo, who was taken all over No. 45 just minutes earlier. While Mykhailiuk is also poised to become a limited free agent in the summer, the Thunder still felt comfortable making this move.

Diallo, just 22, averaged 11.9 points and 5.2 rebounds in 23.8 minutes per game for the Thunder this season. Mykhailiuk, 23, averaged 6.9 points in 17.6 minutes per game at 33.3 percent from depth. On his career, Mykhailiuk is a 36.9 percent 3-point shooter and has revealed the ability to extend the floor at 6-foot-7.

When all is said and done, the Oklahoma City Thunder were able to move on from Hamidou Diallo when Lu Dort appeared at a shooting guard. Eventually they will change athletics for shooting while taking on a Ukrainian shooter in Svi Mykhailiuk.

With the trade deadline less than two weeks away, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this was the first of several moves for the Thunder.
