Tom Cruise surprised NHS staff to thank them for working through the coronavirus pandemic.

The film’s star, 58, is thought to have secretly visited the ExCel Center in East London last Thursday to ‘pay personal homage to frontline health workers’.

It comes after Mission Impossible 7 finally folded after a series of delays and claims included the star running at a team for breaking social distance rules on set.

A source told The Sun: ‘He told his team he wanted to pay his personal homage to frontline health workers who helped get films back on track.

‘They were very surprised to see such a big movie star. Tom wanted to keep it a secret and make sure it was a good surprise for them.

‘The world had heard his rant at a team on set and that proved the importance of catching the pandemic.’

The ExCel Center is now a major vaccination center with another part of the site used for the NHS Nightingale Hospital new patient rehabilitation facility.

Speaking in January, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: ‘I want to thank our wonderful NHS staff who have transformed the Excel center into a major vaccine center. a new scale, as well as preparing the NHS Nightingale Hospital to open as a new patient rehabilitation facility in another part of the center.

‘This will be important in freeing up much-needed beds across London’s hospitals, while accelerating the spread of the vaccine.’

Filming was on Mission: It was impossible to start 7 in Italy in February 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed it until July 2020.

Filming began in the UK, they moved to Norway and then back to Italy where it was stopped again after 12 crew members tested positive for the coronavirus.
