Thunder, Twitter responds to Bazley dunk vs Hawks

As the Oklahoma City Thunder began tying the bow on a 118-109 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, they had two goals: Either get an easy basket or run time off the clock.

Next Darius Bazley found a way to do both. With about 10 seconds left on the bullet clock, it formed a series to the circle and drove it. John Collins met him at the edge.

Bazley moved not only the ball around Collins, but his entire head. He made a double grip and threw in the ferocious slam dunk.

“I call him a freak of nature, but he’s a freak athlete,” said guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. “He can do so many things in the air, going as high as the gifts he received.”

He extended Thunder’s lead to 11, virtually ending the game.

Bazley smiled and laughed when asked about it and his team’s response. He couldn’t really describe the rubbish itself, but he liked what happened next.

“They were just like being pumped up. It was in the fourth quarter – I don’t remember the score, but I assume it was big. Their coach said to the time, I’m sure we were running, ”said Bazley.

It was big. But that doesn’t mean the Thunder hasn’t seen it before.

“He just played basketball regularly for Baze, which is deceptive,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.

As players celebrated with Bazley, Twitter responded as well. Here’s what Bazley said about the rubbish:

And here’s another glimpse of the throw down.
