World Kidney Day 2021 is observed on March 11 every year. The day is there to raise awareness about kidney diseases and a way to take care of the kidneys. India in its fight against COVID-19 is actively getting its citizens in position, according to the prescribed standards. The war against COVID-19 has not been easy and it still tests the patience of many. The lack of preventive studies during locking now shows that it is after effects. From rising rates of diabetes to rising kidney disease, ignorance of regular health checks has not been easy.

Fear of catching the virus and the current restrictions on locking have caused many to shy away from building health parameters on a regular basis. With people living indoors and working from home, a sedentary lifestyle became a common practice and led to increased levels of diabetes and hypertension. Because kidney diseases are linked to hypertension, diabetes and many other unknown diseases, they are seeing a sudden increase.

Outpatient services when locking out saw more incidents of uncontrolled diabetes and hip intolerance leading to kidney failure. The following closure also restricted access to multiple specific tests and consultations for transplant patients. In addition, the limited medical and healthcare access led to the cancellation of scheduled renal transplant surgery. Unfortunately, teleconsultation, which gave new power to the healthcare industry, could not be of much help to this set of patients because they needed advanced care.

The body is used in a way to hide the early signs and symptoms of kidney disease, leading to the appearance of an average person. Thus, by the time kidney disease is diagnosed, the organ is usually down to 50-60 percent in capacity.

It makes it very clear that patients with any renal comorbidities need regular health checks and prevention.
