The winds from Madrid’s hot derby have not yet calmed down, with Atletico today (Monday) responding to Real’s allegations regarding refereeing decisions from the game. As you may recall, the teams split 1: 1 after equalizing with Nazma towards the end, after Luis Suarez scored first in the first half.
Real claimed they deserved a penalty in a 0-1 draw to the credit of the city rival, and were outraged by the decision of referee Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez, who chose to ignore a hand touch despite being called to examine the monitor, which showed replays in which brakeman Felipe doubted a wide offense.
Now, Atletico has released a rare tweet that directly addresses the city rival, which they claim is benefiting from the refereeing team: “They even criticize the refereeing successes … there are those who are used to the wind always blowing in their favor.”
The result left Atletico in first place in the league with 59 points, while Barcelona and Real are 3 and 5 points away respectively, with both playing one more game.
