White House senior adviser Covid-19 warned Andy Slavitt that there is concern that providers, amid a lack of forecasting of supply, are withholding available doses.
“We believe that some health care providers are routinely withholding expected doses as first doses, and instead keeping them as a reserve for second doses for patients. We want to be clear. that we understand why health care providers have done that, but that does not have to happen, and it should not happen, “Slavitt said at the virtual press conference on Monday.
However, Slavitt argued that “the effectiveness of administered doses will continue to improve. ”
“On January 20, states had managed 46% of their investment. Today, that figure is at 62%. We are focusing on this every hour of every day,” he said.
Slavitt suggested that, in some cases, patient appointments for the first dose be postponed and they stressed the first dose to get out as soon as possible. He said the administration’s move last week to include a three-week window into vaccine shipping plans was intended to reduce concerns that second doses could be maintained.
“With this action, states and vaccine providers will be using their first doses more quickly to make the vaccine available to as many people as quickly and fairly as possible, as they now expect. , that there will be a second dose when the time comes, “he said.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden and director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, made another claim Monday that people will be vaccinated against Covid-19 when it comes into the distribution of the vaccine – not only for personal Health but also to help prevent further coronavirus changes from occurring in the future.
“You need to get the vaccine when it is available as soon as possible,” Fauci said at a White House briefing, adding that viruses cannot circulate unless they reproduce.
“You stop the reproduction by vaccinating extensively,” Fauci said. “When the vaccine comes for you, see if you can get the vaccine.”
