The Wear OS watch you were looking for [Video]

I found myself in a place where, suddenly after forty years, I am a fan of beautiful timetables. I don’t know why it happened but I know when. I was in Newport on vacation with the family and happened upon an hour that turned my head. It was then and there that I caught the beast that has now become an obsession. I don’t have the most impressive collection in the world but I have collected just over a dozen watches and I really love my little watch family. I’d like to expand into more luxurious models like the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch but I’m not quite at that point, yet.

All that being said, the techie struck me with my recent watch obsession and decided it was high time for me to give Wear OS another try. Last year, I tried Mobvoi’s TicWatch Pro 4G / LTE, and overall, it wasn’t an awful experience but the small chunks of Wear OS left with the old Snapdragon chipset 2100 old-fashioned I with a taste less than desirable in my mouth for smartwatches in general. The most impressive thing about the TicWatch line is the dual display that helps the smartwatch get better battery life than just about every Wear OS device on the market. The biggest problem I had with the Pro 4G / LTE was that it just wasn’t responsive or intuitive enough for me to forgive its very boring, black design. That said, last year’s model is still well built. It just feels more like a great fitness tracker that does a lot of stuff it did nothing very good but keep cost.

For 2020, Mobvoi delivered their A game with one of the first Wear OS devices powered by the highly anticipated Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100 chipset. (This is not the 4100+ but that is totally found and I will tell you why in a minute.) This is a long term review as I have been using the TicWatch Pro 3 for a month or so. two so I can get a real feel for using Wear OS consistently over a good period of time. I will break down all the good and not so good things about the new watch from Mobvoi a little further down the page but for those who want manual work, here is my review of GPS 2020 TicWatch Pro 3 from Mobvoi.

Here is the short story. The GPS TicWatch Pro 3 isn’t the smartest looking Wear OS device on the market. As a matter of fact, it’s pretty straightforward and unobtrusive but Mobvoi put in the image interesting enough to take it from the sports look of the previous model to a timeline that can be spent in it. in several cases. For me, that’s just shouting at the cake because – as I said in the video – I’ve put together a proper little collection of handkerchiefs. What I want in a smartwatch is a really good Wear OS experience and that’s exactly what Mobvoi has delivered.

The update to the Snapdragon 4100 chipset gives the TicWatch Pro 3 a decision edge on most other Wear OS devices thanks to the Mobvoi 2.0-layer 2.0 display. The serial displays easily give the TicWatch 2-3 days of battery life. I regularly get 4+ days on one cost and that is a very uncommon achievement in the land of Wear OS. Coupled with 1GB of RAM, the TicWatch just moves around smoother than any other smartwatch I’ve tried. This is especially evident when using Google Assistant. On the last TicWatch, the Assistant was a burden to use. Response times were slow and made Google assistant completely useless and that’s a feature I wanted to use on my smartwatch. The TicWatch Pro 3 fixes that. The facilitator is prompt and results are offered promptly and consistently. Win.

The other thing I really won with the new Tic Watch is the great health-focused features that come with the Mobvoi series of applications. You can get just about everything you could possibly want from a focus wear outfit. You’ll find training sessions to help you improve your confidence with TicBreathe, decibel checking with TicHearing, and much more. I found the sleep controller to be quite accurate and it gave me a valuable insight into my sleep patterns. There is even a blood oxygen absorption sensor. This is very useful when working out but even more important now as we are still in a pandemic. One of the most urgent conditions caused by COVID-19 is to reduce O2 levels in your body and the TicWatch can help you keep track of that without going out and purchasing an independent sensor.

If you are waiting for me to point out the “bad” about this watch, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a little longer. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t swear by my analog timepiece collection but there is very little I can find about the TicWatch that I don’t like. If anything, I would like to see the Mobvoi team along with a larger mainstream watch and a more elegant model but that would also mean paying the high price that comes with along with more luxurious time periods. But, as I said in the video, I have flexible watches if I feel like I’m wearing them. If I want an accurate, stable Wear OS watch with great battery life and experience that is well above average, the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS is the best thing going right now and will only cost $ 299. That’s less than many of my traditional times. Just saying. Speaking of durability, this watch is rated IP68 and you can feel safe taking a quick snap into the pool while wearing it. You may want to avoid salt water but that goes for just about any type of electronic device.

I would also recommend that Mobvoi consider placing a rotating crown or capacitive friction between the buttons on the next model. The way the Wear OS is designed, navigating through applications, settings, and notifications screams for scrolling option and that’s the one feature that TicWatches seems to avoid for some reason. I would also like to see an LTE version made over here to the states but that is likely to happen sooner rather than later.

The complete design of the TicWatch? I give it a 7 out of 10 because Mobvoi could make this watch an eye catcher without adding much to the cost. In terms of software experience, the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS gets 8.5 out of 10 hardware from me. If you ask me, this watch is the bar that other Wear OS makers should aim for when it comes to an enjoyable, easy-to-use smartwatch experience.
