The United Arab Emirates has suspended preparations for an upcoming summit that was slated to be held in April in case Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu uses it to promote himself ahead of the March 23, sister-in-law elections. Ynet Yedioth ahronoth reported on Thursday.
The event was held in Abu Dhabi and hosted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a senior official from the Biden administration and heads of Arab states that have established diplomatic relations with Israel over the past year.
Netanyahu was involved in the incident in interviews he gave to the media a few days ago, including an interview this week at the Ynet studio.
Emirates governor and Crown Prince Abu Dhabi Muhammad bin Zayed was saddened by what he saw as a violation of the normalization agreement with Israel for the Netanyahu election campaign.
