More than 25 years have passed since the first series of computer games emerged “mortal Kombat” (Mortal Kombat) to the cinema screens in two modest nineties films, and now the deadly tournament is back in a new and more worthy film – several times more faithful to the violent games we have come to love.
Warner Bros. has chosen to launch the trailer in two versions – one regular and one uncensored which does not spare us the buckets of blood that will be shed in the film, which can only be seen on YouTube.
“mortal Kombat” Yaakov will of course follow the legendary and mysterious fighting competition, which takes place between the forces of good and evil, in order to decide the fate of the planet. According to the trailer, it seems that our entry into the world of the tournament will be through four heroes who discover that the birthmarks on their bodies are actually an invitation to take part in the tournament and fight for humanity. These are the characters of Sonia, Kainu, Lu Kang and Jax, the protagonists of the original game.

Sonia says she first encountered superpowered people during a mission she performed 7 years ago. The event prompted her to explore the history of the tournament, which has been held since the dawn of humanity, and will now participate in it along with a new partner – an original character created for the film called Cole, a Combined Martial Arts Fighter (MMA) who discovers a mysterious dragon-shaped scar on his chest.
Aside from the main characters, the trailer reveals most of the familiar warriors from the series of games that will appear in the film, including Raiden, Sub Zero, Kong Lau, Scorpion and others.
“Mortal Kombat” is part of Warner Bros. Studios’ plan to release all of the 2021 movies in theaters and home viewing on the HBO Max platform. The film was released and streamed on April 16, 2021.
