As expected, Nintendo Direct today officially announced that Pyra from the Xenoblade Chronicles series will be joining the extensive roster of Ultimate Smash Bros.. Pyra marks just the latest addition to the popular fighting game franchise by Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII after being added as a new playable hero back at the end of last year. Pyra is the fourth DLC character from the latest bundle to be added and it comes in March with two more to follow.
Thinking the Nintendo Switch show started as if it wanted to make an Xenoblade release, although it was suspected that Pyra was missing from the event with many conversations about where she went. As things played out, it became clearer that this may be a Smash message. That theory was later confirmed when Pyra said she was invited Ultimate Smash Bros..
Just like we saw from the Nintendo Direct streams that were just appearing Ultimate Smash Bros. instead of just focusing on it, we saw a brief snippet of Pyra’s movement. If the statements of the past are any indication of what is to come, we will see Ultimate Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai will take a deeper look at the fighters ’movements sometime in the future before their release date.
Also revealed through the stream, Pyra is not technically the only character from Biography of Xenoblade 2 added in DLC release. Like other clothes similar to how we saw the Minecraft characters appear in different ways except Steve, Mythra from Biography of Xenoblade 2 it will also be available as an alternative skin for Pyra.
As mentioned above, the new DLC fighter Pyra is set to release in March. At this point, there are still two unfilled slots to add new DLC fighters, and considering the latest addition, there’s no telling who might feature the next one. Ultimate Smash Bros. itself is currently available for the Nintendo Switch. The latest and greatest DLC fighter for the title, Sephiroth, was released in late December.
