Covid population lock: France is in the throes of the third wave of the coronavirus, with new locking restrictions imposed in 16 districts last Friday.

Unnecessary businesses were closed in the most affected areas of France, where people were prevented from going more than 10km from their home or traveling between regions without a legitimate reason.

The new measures are not as limited as those introduced in March and November last year, Prime Minister Jean Castex acknowledged when he announced them last week.

“Clearly, the messages did not go through. The turmoil of the weekend has led to increased confidence, ”Jean-François Timsit, head of ICU at Paris’ Bichat hospital, told Inter France radio on Wednesday, referring to the reversal. passports while criticizing the complex nature of the restrictions.

“We should have put the brakes on earlier,” he said in the interview.

Bearing in mind that Covid-19’s positive cases may now require hospitalization in the coming weeks, Timsit said: “Next month is going to be hell. ”

“We have a number of difficult weeks ahead of us,” French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin told BFMTV on Wednesday morning, adding: “Covid is once again making some sort of expansion, it is a huge concern. ”

Easter Restrictions: The minister said in the interview that restrictions will not be relaxed for the Easter weekend, although church services will be allowed to go on outside the night curfew. He urged the French people “not to gather together upcoming weekends. ”

“We need to limit them,” said the minister about the celebration of Easter. “They have to live within the close family bond of their home, the apartment, and we should not have friends, family or travel.”
