The Raspberry Pi is one of the smallest and cheapest small computers you can buy. It has an HDMI port, USB ports, and runs Ubuntu or other open source operating systems like champ. The new Raspberry Pi Pico, on the other hand, it looks like a more complex machine CPU. On his own, he can’t do much, but with a few add-ons, you can control robots, lights, and other DIY hats.

The best? It costs just $ 4.

These things are not new. There are plenty of Arduino microcontrollers out there for rapid prototyping, including Adafruit’s Feather table platform and decorations. This is a first for RaspPi, however, and it’s an interesting move, not only because it puts it more firmly in competition with Arduino, but because it also appeared the first exile of Raspberry Pi in making its own chips. The board uses the new Raspberry Pi RP2040 chip, which is made up of Arm Cortex-M0 + processor with 264KB RAM internal. It also supports Flash memory storage up to 16MB.

According to Raspberry Pi C.hief O.perating O.fficer James Adams, the company started working on their new chip back in 2016. It runs on a 40nm process and has dual rights, something that is not common in this cheap board.

You program it in C and MicroPython and connect sensors and displays up to the small directions on the sides. It is powered by a USB port. You can’t really play Doom air (still) but you can use it for electronic testing and other prototyping tasks for which the Raspberry Pi is already well known. And according to Adams, this could be the first in a new line of boards powered by Raspberry Pi ‘s own silicon.
