Vipers Georgia Adams fights when her side wins the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Cup Final at Edgbaston
Southern Vipers will defend the Flint Rachael Heyhoe Cup in the summer after confirming that the tournament will still be named after the former England captain.
Vipers won the first edition of the 50-over regional tournament – recognizing the contribution of cricket to Baroness Rachael Heyhoe Flint OBE – and their sights are now set on the 2021 final, which will be held on September 25th.
The competition will be played in conjunction with the new Women’s Regional T20 competition; scheduled to start on June 26, it will consist of eight teams divided into two groups of four.
ECB Women’s Cricket Managing Director Clare Connor said: “This promises to be a very memorable summer of cricket for the women’s game.
“Not only are we ready to make the game more professional with more players on full-time contracts than ever before but, crucially, we will be showcasing our game to more young girls on across England and Wales so they can say that cricket is a game for them.

“The launch of women’s regional cricket last summer, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, was another major step forward for our home game. We are now looking forward to seeing these regional teams play twice as much cricket this summer with the addition of the T20 Championship. “
Baroness Rachael Heyhoe Flint OBE dominated England at the first ever World Cup in 1973 and off the field his determination for equality laid the foundation for the opportunities offered to the players of the day. -today.
