‘The pressure is on Liverpool’ – Angelino assumes underdog status ahead of second leg issue

The Spanish defender believes his side still have a chance to take down the Reds amid their recent struggles.

Defender RB Leipzig Angelino believes the pressure is on Liverpool ahead of their second leg in the Champions League in Budapest on Wednesday.

The Reds have a 2-0 win going into the next round, with a goal away from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane setting Liverpool towards the semi-finals.

But Angelino has said that RB Leipzig is still very much in the link, adding that he believes the German side will accept their role as underdogs.

What did Angelino have to say?

“It was sad because I thought we played a really good game,” defender RB Leipzig said as he reflected on the first leg.

“We were a few times behind the full support. [Trent] Alexander-Arnold on the ball is unbelievable but too offensive. But that’s the best part [quality] so we have to take advantage of the weakness and hope to get a few more chances as we did in the first game. That was our mistake that we did not send them away.

“We could have put pressure on them [by] getting some of the opportunities we got. We felt we gave them two mistakes and a team like Liverpool, with the quality they got, they will kill you if you give them just a little bit.

“But we are positive because we played a strong game. If we don’t make mistakes and turn our chances around, it can turn around. There are still 90 minutes to go and we will be focused and ready to go again. . The weight is, I would say, greater than theirs. We are the underside and so we go from the back. “

The struggle between Liverpool

Liverpool have gone wrong since the start of the new year, falling all the way out of the Premier League title race and perhaps even the race for a place in the top four.

The loss of the club has come as a result of injury injuries, with injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson.

Liverpool have struggled with matters in the middle of the defense all season as a result, with Van Dijk’s absence particularly hurting the Premier League defenders.

And Angelino says Liverpool are a different team without the Dutch star.

“Of course, it was very important for them at the back. It was so strong. In the end, they don’t have much change. They have a strong eleven,” he said.

“They didn’t win the Champions League and the Premier League for nothing. You can’t be perfect all the time but they have an incredible team, good qualities. Good quality up and when they have Van Dijk at the back, it’s unbelievable.

“But every team has every appearance and progress. They can beat anyone when their day is up and everyone is fit so you need to be very focused and stick to the plan.

“Alone they have good players and they will definitely compete again and get back to the top level. Hopefully they won’t be in their next game against us. They can wait a bit no longer.”
