Nofar Energy has completed the construction of the first electricity storage system of its kind in Israel.

The system with a capacity of about 3.22 megawatts will make it possible to install additional photovoltaic systems alongside it with a total power of about 2.77 megawatts and at a rate of about 45 ag per kWh.

From the date of operation, Nofar will perform maintenance of the system for a period of 25 years.

Ofer Yanai, Chairman of the Company We are proud to lead the electricity storage revolution in Israel. After connecting the first floating solar system in Israel to the electricity grid in 2018, we are very excited today Completion Establishment of the first commercial storage system in Israel. The renewable energy economy in Israel is desperate for storage and will require storage in the amount of tens of gigabytes in order to meet the 2030 targets. The system was established thanks to its expertise Of Nofar Energy in projects with high and challenging engineering complexity, which embody an excess return alongside them. We aim to establish many more storage systems as part of Nofar Energy partnerships as early as 2021, and to lead the storage market in Israel. When we established the first floating solar system in Israel, it opened a new market that promoted the field of renewable energies, and Nofar Energy created projects with an installed capacity of 275 megawatts, reflecting about NIS 1 billion in construction revenues and about NIS 100 million each year from electricity sales. Nofar Energy is now successfully scoring a new breakthrough, establishing the first commercial storage system in Israel. Nofar is leading the market through innovation and creativity and will continue to do so in the coming years. “

Nofar Energy reports today that it has completed the establishment of the first energy storage system in Israel. The system, which has a total capacity of 3.22 megawatts, is expected to be activated in the coming weeks and Nofar intends to install photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of about 2.77 megawatts, at a rate of 45 ag per kWh, when without the storage system it would not have been possible. , That from the date of commercial operation Nofar will perform maintenance of the system for a period of 25 years.

The report shows that the group’s companies are promoting the construction of dozens of additional electricity storage systems, both in start-up projects and in construction projects, in preparation for construction and in initiation and licensing projects.

The use of the electricity storage system will allow the group companies to set up additional photovoltaic systems in the area where it was established, in a way that ensures the electricity flows for many more hours a day and when the power generation systems are inactive, without having to increase the connection point. In addition, the group companies will be allowed to flow the electricity produced in systems during hours when electricity tariffs are higher.

Earlier this month, the company and its partner Keren Noy announced that it was entering Italy for the first time and signed an agreement to invest in the Italian company Sunprime Generation SRL. The investment was made through Andromeda Solutions, which is owned by Keren Noy (60%) and Nofar Energy (40%) and is engaged in the development, licensing and construction of photovoltaic systems on rooftops in Italy. These systems are expected to operate and sell electricity at a fixed rate known for 20 years, by virtue of tenders conducted by the Italian Director of Electricity Services.
