Verona players celebrate (Reuters)
Verona proved once again tonight (Monday) that she deserves the title of “the pleasant surprise of the season in Serie A”, when she defeated the disappointing Parma 1: 2 in a game that closed the 22nd round of the Italian league.
Ivan Juric’s humble side fell behind an early goal from Yurai Kotzka on a penalty in the eighth minute after a Sylvester foul in the box, but five minutes later they equalized with an own goal from Alberto Grassi, who tried to keep a pass from ex-Pharma Federico Dimarco. In the 62nd minute, the turnaround was completed with a shot by Antonin Brack from a corner kick that was lifted straight to his head.
Verona, recovering from a series of two losses, have raised their tally to 33 points and are just a point away from eighth-placed Sassuolo. Pharma, on the other hand, recorded its fourth consecutive league loss and is buried deep at the bottom of Serie A.
