The municipal representative youth band – “The Urban Music”, is looking for new talent, singers and musicians to join the band.

The Rehovot Municipal Company will conduct and produce, again this year, the municipal memorial rally for the victims of the Israeli military and the victims of the hostilities that will take place on Tuesday (13.4) at 19:45 in the Defenders’ Garden. This municipal rally is the main municipal memorial event, which is attended by thousands of residents from all over the city every year to commemorate the fallen people in the streets, in addition to the traditional ceremonies held in the city’s neighborhoods.

This year, due to the guidelines and restrictions that apply to holding outdoor events, it was decided in the Rehovot Municipality to allow participation in the main rally for bereaved families only and with prior registration. The rally will be broadcast live on the Facebook pages of the Rehovot Municipality and the municipal society. Also, due to these restrictions, the traditional ceremonies will not be held in the neighborhoods.

This year, emphasis was placed in the rally on the value of mutual guarantee, which has accompanied us even more in the past year. On behalf of the bereaved families, Israel Barzilai, the brother of the late Sergeant Daniel Barzilai, who fell in the Yom Kippur War, in the containment battles in the Quneitra area, will be heard. Lowering the flag to half-mast, lighting a memorial beacon using a torch that made its way with representatives of the city’s youth movements from Beit Dror, the Holocaust Memorial House, by Shuli and Uri Menuhin, the daughter and son of the late Major Uriel Menuhin. Yoni Tahan, the brother of the late Staff Sergeant David-Haim (Davidi) Tahan, will read the remembrance. The prayer to the Merciful God will be delivered by Sergeant Yitzhak Hartman after the laying of the wreaths. The memorial songs will be performed by the singer and Israel Prize winner, Yehoram Gaon. The rally is directed by Rinat Alon, led by Hanania Koresh The rally will be held in the presence of the mayor, Rahamim Malul, a representative of the Israeli government, and the chief rabbi of the streets, Rabbi Simcha HaCohen Kook.

Later, at 21:45, an evening of songs of warriors, memory and heritage – ‘Singing and Remembrance’, with the participation of the singer and Israel Prize winner Yehoram Gaon, will be held at Beit Ha’am Rehovot – the Municipal Hall of Culture. On Memorial Day, 14.4, a memorial service will be held in the military cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with the siren of silence. Entry to this ceremony will also be allowed for bereaved families only, due to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health. In addition, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held in memory of the victims of the 55th Battalion near the monument at 213 Herzl Street at 11:00.

As every year, on the eve of Remembrance Day, we will embrace the bereaved families through a brick house and with the cooperation of high school students in the city, and a memorial candle, a letter and a red nail will be distributed to each family.

In addition, the exhibition “Bereavement” will open at the Yad LaBanim Gallery on Saturday, April 10, at 8:30 PM. In addition, as part of the memorial events, a “Sixth Race” will be held this year in memory of the six fallen members of the Golani Brigade who fell in the helicopter disaster in the rest of the community. The race, which will take place on Friday, April 9, at 8:30 a.m., will open with a memorial service for the fallen in the presence of Mayor Rahamim Malul, and will be attended only by high school students and members of the Golani Palestine Unit, fighters from the unit and the bereaved families. The city is next to the military cemetery. The race will include two tracks, a 6 km long running track and a 3 km long walking track.
