About half of the Israelis left out of the flight are kosher observers and it is not possible to obtain kosher food at the airport. Rabbi Meir Quinn, director of the Medicine and Happiness Organization, together with Israir and Chabad Frankfurt, decided to take care of those Israelis in every way and managed to fly to them and bring in quantities of kosher food from Germany as well. The food itself and to make sure everyone has food no matter how long they will have to wait at the airport.
Currently, a special Lufthansa flight to Israel is scheduled to depart tonight. The flight is supposed to have all those Israelis who spent the night on the benches and on the floor at the airport in Germany. Some of them claim that they were unable to book a ticket for tonight’s flight and that they will have to spend an entire week at the airport, until the next rescue flight, but the issue of returning Israelis to Israel is in the process and it seems that everyone will find a quick solution.
Ofer Kish, CEO of Lufthansa Israel, announced this morning that the company will operate the rescue flight today: “Lufthansa will operate a rescue flight tonight for passengers who did not board a flight from Frankfurt to Tel Aviv yesterday. Here are the flight details: LH690 / 24.2.21 Departure from Frankfurt at 17:55, landing in Tel Aviv at 23:00. All passengers are required to present an exception committee approval, a negative corona test result and complete the health declaration before the flight. Passengers flying to or from Germany are asked to wear surgical masks or FFP2 / FFP3 masks (N95 / KN95). We apologize for the inconvenience caused to passengers. “
