The Lost Freedom for Study inspires Tisci Burberry

LONDON (Reuters) – Burc’s Riccardo Tisci said the dream of being able to explore – a freedom denied at the time of COVID-19 locks – was on his first collection aimed at menswear for a British luxury label motivation.

“Surrounded indoors, I dreamed of the outdoors and its beauty, inspired by the thought of the creativity that comes when we are together,” Tisci said Monday.

“With this dream in mind, I became interested in Britain’s extensive craftsmanship and outdoor movements in the early 20th century, as people fled to explore the unknown country. ”

Outerwear was the focus of the autumn / winter 2021 collection, filmed at the main Burberry Street store in central London before being released on social media channels on Monday.

Burberry’s traditional trenches were remodeled with pleats, panels and edges, while the color palette was based on tonal shades of beige, bark brown, burgundy oxblood and city grays.

Tisci joined the 165-year-old brand in 2018 to provide creative direction to CEO Marco Gobbetti relocating the house later.

His designs have attracted younger customers, especially in China’s important market.

Like other labels, Burberry has been hit hard by global restrictions on store opening and travel and tourism.

It reported a 9% decline in sales in its third quarter, falling more than the 6% in the second quarter.

The company said last month that trade would still be subject to regional turmoil but that it was confident to go back when the pandemic subsided due to the brand ‘s importance with customers.
