Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson faces up to at least five weeks on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on the groin injury he suffered in an Merseyside derby date with Everton.

The Reds have said in a statement about what the club has official website: “Liverpool can confirm that Jordan Henderson has undergone surgery on his injury at last weekend ‘s Merseyside derby with Everton.

“The captain was taken off after half an hour of Anfield’s game after raising a groin issue which left him unable to continue.

“Following further evaluation by the club’s medical team, Henderson has been successful in correcting the adductor. It will start a recovery program immediately.

“There is no set timetable for his return; however, the 30-year anniversary is initially ruled out until after the March international break.

“The club’s medical department will be keeping a close eye on Henderson’s recovery and the progress he has made during his rehabilitation will determine when he can regain full training.”
