The Ministry of Health has decided to suspend the license of psychologist Yuval Carmi, who is suspected of sexual offenses against four patients. This is a step that is considered exceptional, since no indictment has yet been filed against the psychologist.
In addition, the Ministry of Health decided to suspend the license of Idan Kosovsky, a child psychologist who was charged with sexual offenses against minors in a period prior to his employment as a psychologist, when he lived in the south of the country.
The Forum of Organizations for Public Psychology said: “The Ministry of Health today suspended the license of Yuval Carmi and Idan Kosovsky – two psychologists suspected of sexually harming their patients. “On behalf of the Ministry of Health for the protection of public health and patient safety. We send best wishes for healing and rehabilitation to the victims, congratulate the Ministry of Health on the important step, and encourage the public to check in the register of psychologists whose professionals are registered and experts in their field.”
About two weeks ago, an affair exploded when the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court was allowed to publish that the psychologist Yuval Carmi is the suspect in sexual offenses against four patients. The investigation against him was opened following a complaint filed by 21-year-old Ariel Kim Arad, who was treated by him for several years, and who chose to be exposed openly in an interview broadcast on News 12.
The complainant recounted two incidents that took place last month in which the suspect committed sexual offenses on her. On the other hand, the psychologist claimed that the acts were with her full consent as part of an affair between them.
Carmi’s defense attorney, Adv. Yehuda Ben-Shoshan, responded by saying: “Attempts to blackmail my client in the media, by bodies with interests in order to generate empathy will not be tolerated. “I am sorry that the complainant was exploited by Agenda owners who wanted to convey messages through her and caused her to change the version of the truth. The recording we have and other materials that will be presented later, leave no doubt that everything was done with consent,” he added.
