The most recent Windows 10 update which doesn’t play nice with some printers.

according to Digital trends, the case affects printers from Kyocera, Ricoh, and Zebra. When a user submits a file for printing, instead of actually printing, the whole PC crashes, showing the tragic Blue Screen of Death along with the error code “APC_INDEX_MISMATCH for win32kfull.sys. ”

This type of message usually appears when there is inappropriate hardware or drivers, and in this case it is the latter. The KB5000802 update causes Windows 10 to assume that these print drivers are not installed or connected to the actual devices. So if someone tries to print from Word, Notepad, or another program, the PC will come to BSOD immediately.

The issue has affected several versions of Windows 10, both client-side and server-side, includes: Windows 10 version 20H2, 2004, 1909, 1809, 1803, and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 and Windows Server 2019.

Microsoft is aware of the problem, but has not provided a permanent solution at this time, as the company has not become aware of the issue recently.

“We are currently investigating and will provide an update as more information becomes available,” the company said on a support page.

A Microsoft employee has posted a temporary solution on the subreddit sysadmin, which includes the ability to apply direct printing and resolution with the Application Compatibility Toolcromag.

Another option is to completely restore Windows 10 March 2021 update, but doing so could compromise the security of your PC, as tcumulative update KB5000802 came with some security fix. If you want to uninstall any of these updates, type Windows Update into the search bar, click on it See Update History, And then Updates without installation at the top. A new window will appear, and you should the update listed as Security Update for Microsoft Windows KB5000802 or KB5000808.
