The Jerusalem Municipality has confirmed: The American Embassy in the capital will be established here

The Jerusalem Municipality today (Wednesday) approved two complexes for the American Embassy in the capital. These are two programs for two United States diplomatic complexes in Jerusalem, and each of the complexes includes office buildings, residences and security for employees. The transfer of the diplomatic complexes in full to Jerusalem is an important and significant move for the State of Israel. The municipality hopes that in the wake of this, more countries will join the move (the full plan was edited by the firm of architects Yigal Levy).

The programs offer two diplomatic complexes:
1. Expansion of the existing complex in the Arnona neighborhood to a size of 50,000 square meters.
2. In the Allenby complex, located between Hanoch Albeck, Daniel Janowski and Hebron Roads, measuring 60,000 square meters.

The municipality notes that with regard to the Diplomat Hotel, and in agreement with the embassy representatives, it was decided that the building will not be evacuated until a suitable solution is found for the building’s occupants. The number of floors is adjusted to the planning policy for the adjacent neighborhoods; Ten floors towards the Hebron Road and up to five floors in the other complexes.

The mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Leon, hopes that more delegations will move to Jerusalem. “This is a historic and exciting moment that is taking place against the background of the political change we are experiencing these days with the welcome peace agreements. I believe that the additional step of strengthening the embassy complexes in Jerusalem, “The axis of the light rail will increase the development of the city for the benefit of its residents, and this is in continuation of the long-approved master plan in Talpiot.”
