Last week’s rally led to the COVID-19 revolution at a local student residence and the closure of the building to visitors.
Severn Court, at 555 Wilfred Drive, has six confirmed cases, health officials confirmed Saturday. A Section 22 order was issued Saturday by Dr. Rosana Salvaterra, closing the building to visitors and urging residents to separate themselves. Anyone who visited the premises between February 20 and 27 is asked to self-separate and test for signs of symptoms.
“Based on initial investigations, several of the disclosures occurred at a private gathering on February 20,” Peterborough reports on Public Health in a press release.
“This revolution is very worrying not only because it involves a variety of concerns and could lead to many more high-risk cases and contacts, but because it was also able to prevent it, “Salvaterra said.
The specific nature of variability is not yet known.
In the private student residence, which is close to Fleming College, there are about 200 post-secondary students as tenants. Salvaterra said representatives from the Severn Court Management Company have been working with health officials to keep the spread out, as have Trent University and Fleming College.
