Tonight (Sunday), IDF forces arrested three suspects who crossed from Lebanon to Israeli territory. This is apparently not a terrorist incident.
The IDF spokesman said that observations identified three suspects who crossed from Lebanon to Israeli territory near the town of Yiftach. The forces arrested the suspects and they will be questioned at the spot. The IDF fired light bombs along the northern border during the incident.
Earlier today, it was reported in Lebanon that an IDF force fired into the air to deter several shepherds in the area of the village of Lida, which is about a kilometer from the border between Israel and Lebanon.
Last year, there were many incursions from Lebanon into Israel. Most of the incidents were criminal or of migrant workers. In one case, a Sudanese citizen from Lebanon infiltrated the settlement of Shlomi in the north of the country. However, in most cases, the IDF arrested the infiltrators while crossing the fence or near it. Other infiltrators were arrested in Lebanese territory by the local army.
In the past, Israel has estimated that although most of the infiltration attempts are migrant workers, Hezbollah may send them in innocent cover to examine Israeli vulnerabilities along the border.
