The ICC 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup is urging locals to volunteer during competition

New Zealanders are invited to take part in World Cup action by joining the ‘CWC22 Crew’ as volunteers during the tournament.

The ‘CWC22 Crew’ will bring in up to 750 volunteers as New Zealand hosts the 31-day, 31-match demonstration competition across six cities from March 4 to April 3, 2022.

Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin will see the best cricket in the world fight, and tournament organizers are inviting those interested in volunteering at games throughout the event apply online now.

To mark the launch of the CWC22 volunteer program on Tuesday at Mount Maunganui beach in Tauranga, Suzie Bates of New Zealand was in attendance to welcome the first dedicated volunteers to apply.

“As players, we know that the role of volunteers in competition is very important,” Bates said.

“The overall fan experience of a global event like this one relies heavily on manaakitanga (hospitality) and the kind-heartedness of volunteers as it does on the performances seen out on the pitch.

“Meeting some of the wonderful Kiwis who have already signed up to help deliver the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2022 is very humbling.

“Seeing how exciting they are about the competition hitting home that next year’s World Cup on home soil is a special time for everyone here in Aotearoa (New Zealand),” he said. Bates.

The CWC22 Crew will be required in a number of roles, each requiring different skills and experience.

Volunteers must be 17 years or older by March 4, 2022 and must reside in one of the six host cities. Successful applicants for volunteering will be interviewed in July 2021.
