James Wiseman has yet to make his Golden State Warriors debut but the second overall selection has impressed his teammates and staff with his size and athleticism alone during practice. .
Heroes head coach Steve Kerr said Wiseman’s skill set was unique because of his size at 7 feet tall and his ability to run the floor. The scary part is that Wiseman has yet to leave so much of his game to unravel after a limited workgroup so far.
On Thursday, player Kelly Oubre Jr. backed previous reviews of Wiseman, describing how good he was with his size and energy on the court.
“I think you’ve all seen the headlines: He’s a great man,” Oubre said. “It will be fun for us to run, have a lot of energy, just be super athletic, multi-functional out there on the court together. I look forward to throwing it up to him and letting him go and do this thing. “
Although Wiseman has been praised for his high level of energy on the court, he still needs to learn how to use it. Draymond Green described his play as it was all over the place while Kerr was a replica of that narrative. Wiseman admitted he was a bit giddy and is working on getting a better grip on him.
The 19-year-old will not play Thursday in the Warriors’ preseason finale after reporting a positive test for the coronavirus.
