The head of the investigation team in Netanyahu’s cases is not a candidate for a new position

Lt. Gen. Cyrus Bernor, who headed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s investigation team, does not appear on the list of appointments to be discussed this coming Monday by senior police command staff. The document, which contains the names of candidates for promotion to the police, does not list the name of Bar Nur as a candidate for promotion to the position of deputy and it is not inconceivable that he will decide to retire from the police as a result.

Bernor is currently serving as commander of the National Police College, located in Beit Shemesh, and last November his name was not included in a round of appointments to the rank of non-commissioned officer conducted by the police. Now, his name does not appear on the list of new appointments to the rank of non-commissioned officer in the police, even though Bernor is considered one of the unit’s most respected investigators.

In contrast to Bar Nur, the names of Lt. Gen. Yoav Telem, one of the senior investigators at Lahav 433, and Lt. Gen. Eran Kamin, who previously took part in the investigation into the dormitory affair, also appear on the list of names that will soon be discussed by senior police officers. Kamin is the only candidate on the list for the position of head of the Fraud Investigation Unit, while Telem is the only candidate for the position of head of the Investigations Division.

Meanwhile, changes are also expected in the changing spokespersons. The spokeswoman, Lt. Col. Sigal Toledo, is a candidate for the position of head of the unit for gender equality and cultural diversity. As a result, the police are considering turning the police spokesperson from unit to brigade, thus lowering the rank of unit commander.
