The head of the Bar Association, Adv. Avi Chimi, this evening (Wednesday) sent a warning letter before a lawsuit to former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, after Barak accused the bureau of improper actions.

The warning letter was sent following a radio interview conducted on Net B, in which Barak said that the bureau acted to postpone the trial of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and that later the bureau’s head, Chimi, joined Netanyahu’s defense team.

The head of the bureau demands that Ehud Barak Barak publish an apology and a return of the serious accusations within 24 hours, as well as transfer for the purpose of a settlement an amount of approximately NIS 30,000 which will be donated to a hospital for the treatment of Corona patients.

Advocate Avi Chimi said: “All my activities are solely for the benefit of the legal community and the legal system in Israel.

It will be recalled that after the Minister of Justice, Bnei Gantz, ordered that during the closure the courts operate as normal, the Bar Association acted to change the order. Among other things, the bureau accused Gantz of endangering the health of tens of thousands of lawyers who would be forced to risk being infected in Corona, as Gantz wants to cause the upcoming hearing in the Netanyahu trial not to be postponed a bit.

Many lawyers were outraged at Gantz, as in addition to risking their health in vain, the fact that they would have to work during quarantine when their children were not in school raises a serious problem. Following the heavy pressure from the lawyers – Ganz surrendered. However, it is worth noting that the postponement of the hearing in the Netanyahu trial was initiated by the judges.
