Roberts’ (65) publicist, Mike Fingle, confirmed yesterday (Monday) that the actress collapsed in her home on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, after returning from a walk with her dogs. She was rushed to Cedar Chinese Hospital in Los Angeles and hospitalized in intensive care, where she was connected to a respirator. Fingel even confirmed that Roberts passed away on Sunday and even eulogized online.
But now he is backing down from his statement and claiming to have received misinformation from Roberts’ partner. According to a report by TMZ, Roberts’ partner, Lance O’Brien, was with her at the hospital on Sunday, and when she closed her eyes – he felt she was “gone” and assumed she was dead. This information was reportedly passed on to her family and Fingal as well – and this is how the rumor spread to the media as well.
The next day, while being interviewed about her death, O’Brien called the hospital and informed him that Roberts was still alive.
Publicist Fingel was quick to spread the word that Roberts was still alive but was hospitalized in critical condition. Predictions about her condition were gloomy and did not leave much room for hope.
