The Hadassah CEO’s threat to his employees succeeded

Did the threat of the director general of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital work? After Professor Zeev Rothstein announced last week that staff members who would not be vaccinated against the corona would not be able to get to work, it became clear today (Monday) that out of about 6,000 hospital staff, only 300 have not yet been vaccinated – and some have said they will soon.

Hadassah noted that the hospital is nearing the end of the initial corona vaccines for staff and in the midst of the second-dose vaccination campaign. About 4,800 of the hospital staff have already received the first dose of the corona virus, and about a thousand of them have already received the second dose. About 50 of the hospital’s staff participated in the trial for the Israeli vaccine.

About 800 of the hospital staff are recovering who have not been vaccinated, about 400 others have been prevented from being vaccinated due to a medical reason and about another 300 have decided not to be vaccinated at all or will be vaccinated this week. Vaccination of medical staff in hospitals and health funds is expected to be completed by next week. The average immunization rate in hospitals so far stands at about 60%.

Prof. Rothstein: “I commend the decision of the vast majority of employees to be vaccinated out of personal and public responsibility, and salute the efficient vaccination team at Hadassah who do the job with dedication, piety and professionalism as only in Hadassah it is possible. At present, only about 20 employees were found non-essential. “And they are in close quarters in their home. This means that the wonderful Hadassah team continues its activities, when in the coming days they will begin to receive a green passport that will allow everyone all the benefits associated with it.”

As mentioned, Hadassah said last week that “only workers who have been vaccinated, who recover from Corona or who participate in the Israeli vaccine trial, who are essential, will be able to get to work during the tight closure announced by the Israeli government.” It was further stated that “these workers will be on vacation, when a final decision regarding the reporting and payment for these days will be made according to what will be decided in the State of Israel regarding non-essential workers who do not come to work.”

The hospital also said that unvaccinated workers will not be able to send their children to settings that work for the children, in order to protect the children of vital workers and their families. “Employees are given the opportunity to submit an application to the Exceptions Committee, which will discuss the personal circumstances of cases of non-immunization and determination of employee vitality,” Hadassah stated.
