“The Good Side of Cannabis”: Caspi’s venture

Beginning of an article

Omri Caspi recently returned to the floor after a year in which he suffered an injury, but apart from the activity at Maccabi Tel Aviv, the forward who played in the NBA thinks about business. Tonight (Tuesday) an article was published in the American “Athletic” that exposed the Israeli’s marijuana venture, in which he invests millions of dollars.

“You’re in bed with your wife, trying to sleep and giving two quick sprays under your tongue,” Caspi said, “you don’t have to go out and smoke, it becomes simple. You can walk with your kids and if you don’t want to smoke around, you have another chance.” The bottle with the spray has been sold in the US for five months and is available in 40 different stores and pharmacies.

One of the Maccabi player’s partners is Larry Sanders, a former NBA player. Sanders remembers retiring from basketball unexpectedly at age 26 due to problems of anxiety and depression. Sanders was even suspended by the league management twice for using cannabis, but explained that he used the drug to deal with anxiety.

Caspi and Sanders believe athletes can benefit from cannabis as painkillers or alternatively help with sleep problems and anxiety. “We’ve been taught all these years that cannabis is bad, but now we’re starting to see the good side of it. We’re trying to help change that perspective,” Caspi said in an interview.

The article says that in addition to Caspi and Sanders, there are three other NBA players currently investing in the product with them, but chose not to be exposed. It was also noted that the product “could become extremely popular among NBA players.”

Sanders said in the article that Caspi is the one who offered him to invest in the venture, as a supporter of legalization. “Omri brought me to one of the meetings with a potential investor, and I was immediately interested. As one who consumes cannabis, I realized that there is an opportunity here to bring into the world a healthier way of consuming it.”
