A number of leaks have recently touched on Apple’s work on a folding iPhone, and recent ones have talked about the possibility that the company will launch its first folding device as early as 2022. A new leak provided by Apple leaked seller John Proser on his YouTube channel contradicts previous reports, with the leak indicating that Apple is in the early stages of examining the idea of a folding phone, and if it launches one at all, it will only happen in about two years.

Earlier reports mentioned that Apple is considering two options for a foldable iPhone, one is an oyster-style folding phone, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip, and the other of a larger device, which folds from tablet mode to a more standard phone size, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold. According to Frosser’s new update, Apple is currently aiming for an oyster-style phone, the iPhone Flip if you want a reception for Samsung’s phone, but it’s still in the early stages.

Another item of information provided by the leaker concerns the colors of the folding iPhone, which he claims will come in a wide range of colors, with the aim apparently being to appeal to the younger market.

Foldable iPhone – expensive or inexpensive?

Reports of a folding iPhone began to arrive several years ago (see the company’s patent from 2017 by clicking here), so this is a project that Apple is seriously considering over a long period of time. Apple usually does not launch products in a hurry, and although there have been folding devices on the market for about two years, Apple will probably not launch this type of device until they fully check that it is a product that will be valid in the market, and there are really those who want to buy it.

The first folding phones to hit the market, from Samsung, Wawi and a small amount of other companies, introduced certain birth cords in the folding mechanisms. The companies have already introduced updates to the magnets and glass that envelop the folding screens, and this year we are expected to see further improvements in the field.

Samsung is already planning a new generation of folding devices of both types, and it seems that the company is turning to the new type of devices as possible replacements for the popular Galaxy Note models, and it can be concluded that Samsung conducted a market test regarding consumers’ desire to purchase such devices. Apple’s decisions regarding the launch of the iPhone fold down the road.
