The re-screening in China began this weekend in 3D and IMAX versions. With few films released to theaters around the world, “Avatar” is the first international film to reach number one on the weekly sales chart in China. So far only local Chinese films have been able to lead the table.

The achievement comes with excellent timing for Cameron, who is working hard on four sequels to “Avatar” that are expected to come out in the coming years. Cameron has actually been working on the pledges ever since the original film came out. Currently, “Avatar 2” is expected to be released in December 2022. After that, more movies will come in 2024, 2026 and 2028.

If Marvel decides to release the film that ends the history of “The Avengers” once again, the revenue will surely exceed the 5 million mark. However, the film is being offered for free to Disney Plus subscribers, so there is currently no reason to re-release it.
