The connection of silence: Dozens of people die from corona every day, and the heads of the Ministry of Health are silent

The corona plague strikes and spreads at full force, hard and painful in Israel: In the last weekend alone, another 51 people died from the virus and more than 3,600 people have already died in the outbreak in Israel, but again it seems that public and media attention is not on the corona victims who are neglected in hearts, even though they must and should be our focus.

This is the right thing to do morally and humanly, but it is the right and best way to explain the horrors of the plague, and so must the heads of the Ministry of Health, who for some reason sin against their office and repeatedly refrain from talking about the many dead, dozens daily, in the plague.

About 1,650 patients are currently hospitalized, of whom nearly 1,000 are in critical and severe condition and 236 others are respirated, a very high number that also indicates the current severity of the plague. The heavy pressure on corona wards is very severe, and no doubt it also affects the quality of medical care. Even if the heads of the Ministry of Health repeatedly declare that the hospitals are not collapsing, the reality in those departments is completely different, and this is another critical way of explaining to the public the unbearably difficult price of the plague.

In addition, nearly 8,000 new verified viruses are detected in the country daily in all regions and in all sectors, until there is no longer any city defined as green. The Ministry of Health also fears an accelerated spread of the epidemic following the discovery in Israel of vertebrates with the new corona mutations (British and South African), which raise serious concerns about increased acceleration of the virus, based on the Ministry of Health’s assessment that the two mutations are already spreading in Israel.

Therefore, adherence and observance of all of us, from all sectors, to quarantine restrictions is critical and necessary to try and save hundreds of critically ill patients from their deaths and possibly thousands. And yes, it is impossible and forbidden to beautify or obscure the picture: Israel is in a very difficult and dangerous situation in accelerating infections, morbidity and mortality, and if we did not enter a prolonged closure, Israel could reach an even more difficult situation than the first wave in Israel and the world. In fact, we have already reached a very difficult situation, except that closure can moderate the health catastrophe.

It is also impossible to embellish the image that there are quite a few publics in Israel who violate the closure provisions and restrictions of the Corona, thereby severely harming themselves, their families and Israel as a whole. There is a need to further increase enforcement of the restrictions, increase fines (as the Corona Cabinet approved, but this was not done due to political pressures) and further expand advocacy.

Vaccines are the main means by which the epidemic can be eradicated and successfully tackled, and Israel is recording tremendous success on a global scale in speed, efficiency and the amount of vaccines. But until the vaccines can be declared to eradicate the plague, or at least make it non-lethal, and until it is possible to return to a more sane life, it will take several months.

In the meantime, it is to be hoped that the current quarantine will not end until there is a real significant decrease in the outbreak of the plague and that the exit from the quarantine will be gradual and careful so that we can finally stop counting the dead from Corona.
