The ‘Bridgerton’ book series is the Pergame Perfect for ‘Bridgerton’ on Netflix

If you haven’t already heard, Shonda Rhimes, Queen of Steam TV, moved her empire from ABC (home of her boyfriend, and still running, Anatomy Gray) to Netflix. And, we’ll see (finally!) Her first series made for streaming, as Christmas Day is the Bridgerton release date.

Trading in doctor’s shoes for corsets and jewelery, Rhimes based this progressive time drama, set in the early 1800s in the high society of Regency London, on a series of popular uber romance novels called, yup, Bridgerton.

Written by Julia Quinn (pseudonym for Julie Pottinger), a Harvard graduate and one of 16 authors inducted into the Romance Writers Hall of Fame, the 11 novels were written to each of the eight Bridgerton children – and the first eight books do just that, in alphabetical order, at least. The last four books in the series are a collection of epilogues about the family, to tie up loose heads. One of them, of course, is called The Bridgertons: Happy after.

The series debuted with The Duke and I in 2000, who spent three weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, five weeks on the USA today bestseller list and was named one of the Top Ten Romances in 2000 by the editors at Amazon. It will also be the story behind the first season of the Netflix series. But most importantly, the entire series of “Bridgerton” books is stylish, fun, and as amazing as watching Meredith and McDreamy fall in love. We don’t want to do any damage, but if you’re ready to get into those funny, hilarious novels full of fast-paced, plithy dialogue, this might be the time.

Want to join the exciting Bridgerton family, before watching them on your TV? You can grab the first nine novels in e-book format, as a Kindle package for just $ 64 (yup, that’s just $ 7 per book). Or buy each one individually or in smaller packages for yourself or your Shondaland lover in your life, in any format you choose.
