Barton previously created and wrote an eight-part crime thriller called Giri / Haji for BBC Two and Netflix. His other credits include The Ritual and Invasion, an upcoming sci-fi thriller starring Riz Ahmed and Octavia Spencer. He also plans to be a presenter on Netflix’s Half Bad, which is based on the three-story fantasy novel Sally Green of the same name.
HBO Max will host the new series, which is reportedly Gotham Central on the inside. This title is very similar to the Gotham PD Approach comic book series created by Greg Rucka, Ed Brubaker, and Michael Lark. He ran from 2002 to 2006 and focused on the city’s police department and the difficulties of working as a police officer in a city like Gotham.
The upcoming police approach will serve as a prelude to The Batman in 2022, after events in Gotham City in what appears to be Batman Robert Pattinson’s first year as the limited stripper . This set the series about a year before the film The Batman on Matt Reeves’ Gotham timeline, as Patinson takes on the character set during his second year at the Dark Knight in Gotham.
There is no release date for the series at the moment, but Batman is expected to be released on March 4, 2022. It was originally thought to be a summer movie, but pushed back from its June 25, 2021 release date several times after that production was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There’s no guarantee that the release won’t slow down any longer, but hopefully Reeves can deliver on the new schedule.
