The Army’s chief of staff was forced to issue a statement on Friday saying the military had ‘no part in confirming the US elections after Mike Flynn, who was a close supporter to President Trump, demand military law.
Flynn explained the importance of using military power to monitor political change, and in an interview called for the use of military ‘capabilities’ to monitor the reversal of the election in Trump-lost states .
On Friday Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy and Army Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville responded with a statement reaffirming the army’s long-standing stance against involvement in U.S. political decisions.
‘The US military has no role in determining the outcome of the American election,’ he said.
Civilian control of the military is a key tenet of the U.S. Constitution, and a distinctive feature of democracies compared to military dictatorships.
Flynn made his call in an interview on Newsmax, a Trump-friendly network. He embraced the conspiracy theories of the election put forward by his lawyer, Sidney Powell, who has filed a ‘Kraken’ lawsuit in battle states trying to reverse the election . These switches have lost dozens of casualties in court.
Trump could order – within the swing states, if he wanted to – he could take military capabilities, and he could put those in states and basically re-run an election in each of those states, ‘Flynn told the network.
‘I mean, it’s not unique. I mean, those people out there are talking about martial law as if it’s something we’ve never done. Military law has been enacted 64 times, ‘he said.
Military law was enacted in response to wars, catastrophes and riots – but not to stop an election where state officials, courts, voters, and the Supreme Court rejected fraud claims.
‘It could take military capabilities, and it could put those in states and run elections again in each of those states,’ said former national security adviser Mike Flynn, who said Trump could announce martial law.
And contrary to Flynn’s proposal, no record of martial law has ever been announced by the U.S. president to hold a new election.
‘There is no way in the world we are going to be able to move forward as a country,’ Flynn said.
He also backed a conspiracy that Trump mentioned that Dominion voting machines were forcing votes from Trump to Joe Biden.
‘He could immediately, on his command, seize all of these devices, at his command,’ said Flynn.
Flynn also said: ‘I’m not calling for that. We have a constitutional process … that must be followed. ‘
Trump shot Flynn as his national security adviser. Flynn, former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. The Justice Department reinstated the course and reduced costs. Trump then forgave him even while a federal judge was overseeing the case.

Representative. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois got a taste of Flynn’s idea. ‘No. The weapon will not be deployed to run a re-election, ‘he tweeted. ‘It’s time to shut this down, and now. Gen. Flynn has lost his moral authority to be taken seriously, and the GOP must stand by him. ‘
It ended with the hashtag: ‘#RestoreOurGOP.’
That elicited a response from Flynn ‘s son:’ F *** you and your losers against Trump. @GenFlynn served 33 years, rose through the ranks, and became a general for a reason. You served 7 years, just until then being a grim WEAK politician. Leave the decisions to the big boys, ‘he wrote.
Kinzinger replied: ‘Defending the country in all its forms, both in my 17 years of continuous military service, and in defending the integrity of the military place in America. ‘
