Thailand clears up the use of herbal medicine for the treatment of Covid-19

Thailand’s health ministry has agreed to use herbal plant extract to treat early levels of Covid-19 as a pilot program among its flareup in a coronavirus revolution in a Southeast Asian country.

Andrographis Paniculata, commonly known as green chiretta, will be another treatment to reduce the severity of the revolution and cut treatment costs, the ministry said in a statement Wednesday. The treatment will be available in five state hospitals initially, he said.

Thailand reported 250 new issues Wednesday, bringing the country’s total to nearly 7,000, and a government official said the rate of rise in local transmissions was alarming and urged people to stay at home to prevent the virus from spreading further. The government has also banned large gatherings in high-risk areas, said Taweesilp Witsanuyotin, a spokesman for the Covid-19 national response center.

  • Herbal treatment is voluntary for those in the age group 18-60 with minor symptoms and should be within 72 hours of diagnosis
  • The extract from the plant, known as Fah Talai Jone in Thailand, can prevent virus and reduce inflammation, ministries say citation studies
  • Human tests showed that a patient’s condition improved within three days of treatment with no side effects if the medication was administered within 72 hours of positive diagnosis.
  • Separately, the Thai Food and Drug Administration said it is ready to schedule Covid-19 vaccines
  • The FDA has opened a special channel for the registration to ensure a speedy process
