Tesla Prolongs Model Y China delivery times, announcing order acceptance

Tesla Inc. customers are waiting longer. in China who want the new locally made Model Y, showing strong initial demand for the Shanghai-built SUV.

A basic version of the now-purchased electric vehicle will be delivered in the second quarter, with a performance variant in the third quarter, Tesla’s website showing. When Tesla announced the price last week and started selling, they said delivery would take place this month.

A strong start for the SUV would be a boon for Tesla as it tries to maintain its lead in the top division over competitors such as Tesla CEO Elon Musk Nio Inc. has said the Model Y has potential. put out every other vehicle it makes, and the company set the price of the car below some other riders to maintain a competitive margin.

“Based on the order inclusion and our product plan, we have adjusted the Model Y delivery time of the latest orders to the second quarter,” a Tesla representative said via WeChat on Thursday.

China is Tesla’s largest market after the U.S., and analysts predict that the country will account for a larger slice of its sales and earnings going forward. The company consistently surpassed monthly high-end car sales in 2020, with the help of the vehicles coming out of their multi-billion-dollar Shanghai base that was invested in launched about a year ago.

The Model Y starts at 339,900 Yuan ($ 52,600), while the Model Y Performance car has a starting price of 369,900 Yuan.
