Haim Sylves (Omri Stein)
Hapoel Haifa today (Saturday) continued its preparations for the league game on Monday (19:00) in Bloomfield against Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv. This is a game that is a crossroads for the team in general and coach Haim Sylves in particular.
A victory for the Reds from the Carmel will release a lot of pressure in the system. A loss could complicate the team and end Sylves’ path and he will probably be replaced by Marco Belbul, if he does agree to come to the coach.
Haifa hopes that, as in the previous crisis, when the team won five points out of 15 possible, this time too Sylves will know how to lift the team to a new path. The main problem right now is that the one in doubt for the game is midfielder Ruslan Bersky who suffers from sensitivity in the top four.
Based on training today it seems there will be one change in the center of defense. Mickey Sirostein was trained in the center of defense at the expense of Ben Wahba. There will be no changes in the front, with William Agada and Alon Turgeman opening when Gal Erel, Hanan Maman, Tomer Altman and Liran Serdel practiced in the link.
The good news for the team is Yahav Gurfinkel’s decision to give up going abroad at this stage and continue in Israel until the end of the season at least and then try his luck again in Europe. The left defender sent a message to the club that he remains in the team.
