When Bryan Conway first reached Stockholm he jumped on a local ferry, the Cinderella II, and rode his roundabout back and forth for four hours. “The inspectors were like, What is it doing? I wasn’t going anywhere, I was just watching. ”That was 18 months ago, and while Conway’s eye update has declined somewhat this collection reflects what it saw.
As the video on the Cinderella II showed, Stockholm passengers felt a cold situation between their moments of ’80s-decor’ relief on board: there was a hoodie hoodie with zippers at the front and on back ingenious and pleasing clothing that allowed the volcanic hood to turn into a sailor-ish collar as needed. Jerseys that included balaclava-snoody arrangements were inspired by a Conway colleague who was always abusing her balaclava before she cycled home, while the memories untimely wax the changes on a baby hat. Knee-high boots had high-heeled boots against them and some sort of storm flap collars on wax jackets could be both protective and decorative.
These attractive elements were contrasted with soft prints created from photographs taken by Kacper Kasprzyk while touring Stockholm in a replica of Conway’s own progress. Tailored prints included a suit in a difficult gabardine – “you couldn’t cut it with a knife, and I like that” – based on a 1920s archive piece and a women’s suit in gray in a re-cut animation since the late 1990s, so three-button and single-breasted. A house quarry to cut two button holes on jacket lapels has been moved to a range of outerwear in particular including a pea jacket in elegant gray wool that Conway said was sourced from Gotland’s specialty sheep, which Tiger’s sustainability manager had learned that it was going unsold. Conway’s comedy collection worked well.
